HingeD – a celebration on World Mental Health Day

Thursday 10th October 2013 is World Mental Health Day: a globally designated time for everyone (sane or otherwise) to try to consider and celebrate, educate and advocate about mental health issues worldwide. Its primary aim is to raise individuals’ awareness of what mental illness is and how it can impact on lives both singularly and collectively.

A small group of artists based in Nottingham have come together to commemorate the occasion each having experienced mental distress themselves and thus being in a position to potentially edify others whether through themselves or through their work in this visual salutation. Exhibiting for one night only, alongside their compositions will be the aesthetic accomplishments of around 40 other individuals who have similarly experienced mental illness recently in their lives and have found the creative outlet of photography to be beneficial in some way.

The artists are
