Thank you to BBC Children in Need (see link here) who awarded us further funding to continue to run our 10-week photography and personal development courses for vulnerable young people aged 16 to 18 years. The funding awarded will enable us run 3 courses per year for three years from June 2019 to May 2022 for young people who live in deprived areas of Nottinghamshire who for a variety of reasons are unable to attend mainstream education. Working in partnership with Inspire Culture, Learning and Libraries based in Nottingham. Nottinghamshire course participants will work towards an EQF Level 1 Award in Crafts, Creative Arts and Media but our methodology and emphasis will be on achieving softer outcomes. We have developed a range of internal and external activities and exercises designed to boost learners’ confidence and self-esteem, improve their communication skills ( the images they compose will supplement their verbal skills) and open them up to different experiences and opportunities . The courses will culminate in an Exhibition and Awards Ceremony where learners will showcase a selection of their work to their family/guardians and friends and receive a Certificate of Achievement, a digital camera, a CD of all the photographs that they take during their course and their exhibited framed photographs.
The project follows from a previous successful three year project also funded by Children in Need. (see link here)
