Current Projects

The Nottingham Photographers’ Hub run a range of community projects with conjunction with local communities.

The current projects we are running are ;

1. Young People Photography project

We have been awarded funding through Children in Need  to provide photography and personal development courses for young people aged 16-19 over the next 3 years. The project will start in September 2016, and we will be running 3 courses a year until April 2019. The project is working in partnership with Nottingham Skills for Employment.

2. Pathway to Resiliance

This project uses photography to assist people with mental health in their recovery, (re)integration into community life and will develop a practical tool to help users cope with the stresses of life that can negatively impact their mental health.

The journey from novice photographer to exhibitor is a journey in confidence – each course will culminate in an Exhibition and Awards Ceremony at week 10 where users will gain sufficient confidence to showcase a selection of their work to family, friends, health workers and the general public.

Courses take place at:

25 Hockley (in the Nottingham Writers’ Studio, opposite Bunkers Hill Pub), Nottingham, NG1 1FH

Courses are free of charge to learners

  • Courses introduce learners to basic digital photography; no experience is necessary and we welcome people who have never before used a camera
  • Digital cameras will be provided but learners are welcome to bring their own if they prefer
  • All courses culminate in an exhibition where learners showcase their work to their family and friends
  • The courses run for 10 weeks each and last up to 3 hours per week (indoor activities may finish earlier; the 3 hours includes travelling time for external trips)
  • We are happy to meet with potential learners beforehand to help alleviate any concerns they may have about joining

This project will end in June, but we are now fully booked and are not taking any more referrals for this project.
